The inauguration of the Ponta Porã Radar Station on June 30 marks a significant step forward in airspace control and the security of Brazil's borders, taking place at an event presided over by President Jair Bolsonaro and various authorities. The new station, part of the Brazilian Airspace Control System (SISCEAB), was set up to strengthen air surveillance and combat cross-border crimes such as drug and arms trafficking. With continuous investment in radar modernization, the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) aims to maintain national sovereignty, using advanced technologies manufactured in Brazil. The radar has the capacity to detect aircraft over a wide area, collaborating with air defense and civil air traffic control missions, as well as guaranteeing the protection of natural and mineral resources in the region. The event highlighted the importance of integration between different agencies and collaboration with the Federal Security Forces in the fight against illicit activities.
